New Metro North
The Government’s seven year investment plan titled “Building on Recovery: Infrastructure and Capital Investment 2016 – 2021” (October 2015) provided for a new metro project for Dublin, referred to as “New Metro North” (NMN), with passenger service expected to commence in 2026/27.
The National Transport Authority’s (NTA) Transport Strategy for the Greater Dublin Area, 2016-2035 provides a framework for the planning and delivery of transport infrastructure and services in the Greater Dublin Area (GDA) over the next two decades. The Strategy defines NMN as a high speed, high capacity, high frequency public transport link from the city centre to Dublin Airport and Swords.
Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), in collaboration with the NTA, are currently engaged in the process of assessing all feasible alignment and station alternatives for NMN, delivering the overall objective of serving the general Swords / Airport to City Centre corridor with a metro scheme.
