Motorway Service Centers – Tranche 1

The National Roads Authority announced in September 2006 that it would be directly involved in providing online service centers on high quality motorways and dual carriageways. Tranche 1 of the Motorway service centers involved the construction of three motorway service centers (ISMs) - on the M1 North (near Garland); on the M1 South (near Lusk); and on the M4 (near the Yellow Road) – as part of the MSA Project Tranche 1. It was agreed, as part of the contract, that the NRA would contribute to the capital costs of building the MSAs, and the CPP company, while only, responsible for the ongoing operating and maintenance costs during the 25 year concession period. As part of the contract, provision was made for the CPP company to make guaranteed minimum annual payments of a share of the revenue to the NRA.

The NRA entered into the PPP contract in 2009 with the Superstop consortium (which included Petrogas Group Ltd., Top Oil and Pierse Group).
