Official Languages Acts 2003 and 2021

The Official Languages Acts 2003 and 2021 are intended to promote the use of Irish for official purposes in the State and sets out the duties of public bodies in relation to the official languages of the State (i.e., Irish and English). The Acts place a number of significant requirements on public bodies regarding the use of the Irish language and they must ensure that the service they provide in Irish should not be of a lower standard than in English.
