2025 Grant Allocations to Local Authorities for Greenways and Active Travel
The preamble describes the matters considered for “The 2025 Grant Allocations to Local Authorities
for Greenways and Active Travel” (the “Allocations”). The Allocations are made by Transport
Infrastructure (TII) having regard to the priorities set out in the National Development Plan 2021-
2030 (the “NDP”), the objectives of the Climate Action Plan 2023, the Programme for Government,
other national policies, and the terms and conditions set by the Minister for Transport (the

needs of all users. TII is also responsible for overseeing the delivery of a programme of national and
regional greenways as Approving Authority, in accordance with the Infrastructure Guidelines,
pursuant to an agreement between the Minister and the Board of TII.

- Asset Protection and Renewal €3m
- National Roads Active Travel €15m
Funding in relation to Asset Protection and Renewal (€3million) will be allocated during 2025
