Transport Interchange
Customer journeys are rarely made on a single mode of transport. Combining different ways of travelling at interchanges makes public transport more attractive to users and allows for seamless transfers.
Cycle & Ride
Derived from an accessibility study, TII (formerly RPA) implemented a number of projects to improve accessibility, some of which included improved cycling facilities adjacent to our Luas stops.
Delivered via the NTA Sustainable Transport Measures Grant, these projects promoted a sense of safety and positivity towards sustainable public transport and cycling through high quality design. This has resulted in a system-wide Cycle & Ride, including high-quality cycle infrastructure at Dundrum, Heuston, Spencer Dock and Windy Arbour stops.
Luas encourages the integrated use of bicycles and trams in Dublin. Integrated bicycle and tram journeys are a convenient, fast and sustainable way to travel around Dublin. Cycling also has added benefits for your health and well-being.
Combine cycling and Luas by cycling to a Luas stop, locking your bicycle to a bicycle rack, and hopping on a tram to complete your journey.
Bike Parking @ Luas Stops
There is currently more than 380 bicycle parking spaces across 34 Luas stops. Details of the number of spaces and stops can be found on Luas.ie
Bike Lockers @ Luas Stops
There are also 10 bicycle lockers located at Dundrum Cycle & Ride Facility on the Luas Green Line. For information about renting a Bike Locker click here
Many of the Luas stops provide excellent integration with public transport, connecting users to destinations across Ireland. Click on Transport for Ireland to plan your journey.
Park & Ride
Luas also allows for access by car, through seven Park and Ride sites, strategically positioned near National Roads coming in and out of Dublin. This intercepts journeys from all over Ireland to travel by Luas to/from Dublin that would have otherwise been made by car.
There are 7 Luas car parking facilities with over 2,600 parking spaces. Included in these, at each P&R are dedicated space for customers with Disability Parking Permits. There are eCar Charging Points at 3 locations; Carrickmines, Sandyford and Stillorgan.
These facilities provide car parking to thousands of Luas customers each day diverting private cars from Dublin streets and reducing traffic congestion.
