The surveys will be carried out during working hours and subject to weather conditions, the planned dates of the surveys are April to May 2026.  TII UAV operators will carry identification and will be identifiable by TII branded clothing.

As a transportation infrastructure delivery agency, TII welcomes the Government's “Accelerated Delivery Action Plan”. TII is one of the delivery agencies that provided a redeployed expert to DPER ensuring TII’s experience has fed into this important work. Full Luas Red Line services resume following new bridge construction

TII Publishes First-Ever Network-Wide Road Safety Ratings for Ireland’s National Primary Roads

Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has published its first ever Network-Wide Road Safety Assessment (NWA), marking a new milestone in Ireland’s commitment to safer roads. This safety rating system evaluates approximately 2500km of the national primary road network by combining both historical collision data and data from current proactive infrastructure inspections. This action is a requirement under the EU Road Infrastructure Safety Management (RISM) Directive. The Directive mandates safety classification for major road networks across Europe.

TII’s remit in relation to National Roads as set out in the Roads Act 1993 is to secure the provision of a safe and efficient network of national roads having regard to the needs of all users. National Roads comprise 5,400 kilometres of Motorways, National Primaries, and National Secondaries. National Roads make up approximately 5% of the total length of public roads, yet National Roads carry some 45% of all vehicle kilometres. TII is the Approving Authority for National Roads projects.

Introduction Thank you for the opportunity to appear before you today, to discuss TII’s role in delivering active travel and greenway projects. I am joined by my colleagues Geraldine Fitzpatrick, TII’s Head of Roads and Greenways Capital Programme and Mary Flynn, Regional Manager. TII’s role in delivering transport infrastructure is set out in the duties and functions assigned to TII through legislation. The National Roads Authority (NRA), operating as Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) since 2015, was established under the Roads Act 1993. It is the general duty of TII to secure the provision of a safe and efficient network of national roads having regard to the needs of all users. Under the Infrastructure Guidelines, TII is the Approving Authority for national road projects and works in partnership with Local Authorities, which are the road authorities for all roads, including national roads.

TII Gender Pay Gap Report 2025
