Withdrawal of Judicial Review proceedings relating to Luas Finglas
Transport Infrastructure Ireland is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement with Murdock Builders Merchants (Ireland) Limited, Brooks Timber & Building Supplies Limited and Downshire Propco Limited which will allow the withdrawal of Judicial Review proceedings relating to Luas Finglas. This means that Luas Finglas can now progress.
Lorcan O’Connor CEO of Transport Infrastructure Ireland welcomed the withdrawal of the Judicial Review.
He said; “It’s important to remember that Luas is not just about transport. Luas will unlock high-density housing – almost ten thousand units – in the Finglas area. As government focuses on accelerating infrastructure, TII will continue to work with NTA and the Department of Transport to accelerate the delivery of a pipeline of projects of which Luas Finglas is the most advanced. Luas’ high capacity, reliable, frequent, accessible, carbon-free travel enables sustained and sustainable development of Dublin. We look forward to pressing on with Luas Finglas once funding is approved.”
Mr O’Connor added, “Since 2004, the year Luas began operating, the population of Dublin has increased by 45pc. In that same period, the number of passengers Luas carries annually increased by 140pc - from 22 million to 55 million last year. Based on that metric alone and by all international standards, Luas has been an astonishing success. We at Transport Infrastructure Ireland stand ready to build the Luas of the future, and the Dublin of the future.”
