Sustainability

TII has a vision to lead in the delivery and operation of sustainable transport, enabling our networks to drive inclusive growth, create job opportunities, enhance the well-being of all persons including vulnerable groups, strengthen our resilience to address climate change, maintain our commitment to the environment and continue to prioritise safety.

At TII, we are committed to ensuring our transport infrastructure is resilient to the impacts of climate change. Our Climate Adaptation Strategy outlines TII's comprehensive approach to adapting our assets and operations to the evolving climate, aligning with national and international sustainability goals.
At TII, our Circular Economy Strategy is a cornerstone of our commitment to sustainability. This strategy focuses on minimising waste, maximising resource efficiency, and fostering a regenerative system where materials are reused and recycled. By integrating circular principles into our operations, we aim to reduce our environmental footprint and contribute to sustainability.
Sustainability is at the core of our mission at TII. The Sustainability Implementation Plan (SIP) outlines our framework for embedding sustainability across all our operations, ensuring that we deliver transport infrastructure and services that are safe, resilient, and environmentally responsible.

The SIP sets out clear targets and metrics to measure our progress towards achieving sustainability outcomes, in line with our six key principles of sustainability.

At TII, we are dedicated to reducing our impacts on the climate across all our operations. The TII Climate Action Roadmap outlines our strategic approach to achieving significant emissions reductions and energy efficiency improvements by 2030, aligning with national and international climate goals.

By following our Climate Action Roadmap, TII is not only addressing the urgent challenges of climate change but also ensuring a resilient and sustainable future for generations to come.

Healthy ecosystems are essential to support life on earth - they clean water, purify air, maintain soil, regulate climate, and more. Thus, TII is dedicated to preserving and enhancing biodiversity as a cornerstone of our sustainability efforts. Our Biodiversity Plan outlines our strategic approach to mitigating biodiversity loss and promoting ecological resilience across our transport infrastructure network.
There are approximately 3500 hectares of landscape, or five Phoenix Parks, adjacent to national roads and motorways. Our landscape plan focuses on ensuring TII’s these landscapes maintain the functionality and efficiency of transport corridors, while striving for net gains in biodiversity along transport corridors
