TII Climate Adaptation Strategy
In 2019, Ireland declared a Climate and Biodiversity Emergency due to increasing climate change impacts. To address this, the Irish Government developed a Climate Action Plan (CAP2021).
The Irish Government's CAP 2021 requires Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) to publish an updated strategy for adapting its networks to climate change.
This TII Climate Adaptation Strategy addresses CAP 2021 Action 297, focusing on improving climate resilience for the Light Rail and National Road Network.
TII's assets are vulnerable to extreme weather events like flooding, storms, and heatwaves, which can cause damage and service disruptions. TII aims to manage climate change impacts proactively to avoid the worst of these impacts and costly reactive measures.
This strategy builds on TII's 2017 Climate Adaptation Strategy and outlines the approach and next steps for continued adaptation required over the coming years
